May 19th, 2008

We are excited about the end of the year activities happening around the school.  The 8th graders are preparing for their trip to Charleston, S.C.  Students are practicing for the Annual MDCS Talent Show.  The Family Contra Dance is lining up to be a fun family activity for not only the school community, but the greater community as well.  Please join us at Southwestern Community College (Swain campus) on Saturday, May 24th at 7:00pm.  Our enrollment numbers are up; we have two classes that are already at capacity for next year with others filling up as well.  Overall, the year will definitely by ending on a high note.

As the school year winds down we are reminded of what an excellent year we have had.  Our teachers are the back bone that supports all the wonderful learning activities we provide on a regular basis for our students. Our school continues to grow in both numbers and experience.  The year has included camping trips, community service projects, and field work activities that support objectives our students are working on in the classroom.

The MDCS staff will have two planning days before the summer break to begin our preparations for next school year.  During that time we will review this year to identify the successes and challenges we have faced and focus our attention on improvement strategies for the coming year.  We applaud the awesome staff we have this year, our incredible students, and their parents.

If this is your first visit to our website, please take the time to check out the outdoor education pages, the meet our staff page, and the classroom pages.  These pages will give you an excellent feel for our school, the quality of our staff, and the unique opportunities we offer our students.

Sincerely,

Ms. Chantelle and Mr. Carter
