WHAT’S NEW AROUND MDCS
It has been a great summer so far, and we’re really looking forward to the 2008-09 school year, however,
it’s especially quiet as is expected this time of year. We’re truly enjoying the array of colors from the beautiful plants that the ‘landscaping minimester’ students planted. Ms. Jobe did an excellent job instructing that class, and the fruits of their labor is quite evident. Now if the rain will just continue on a regular basis, we’ll get to enjoy these bursts of color all summer long. KUDOS to all of those students who worked so hard.
The office was closed for the week of July 4th, and now we are back and busy archiving previous student files, as well as creating new ones. We are receiving and sending student records from other schools as students come and go. This cycle repeats itself all summer, every year. It reminds me of the little song “Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other’s gold.”
WE’RE HAVING A PARTY!@#$% on Saturday, August 9th - and everyone’s invited to the Oconaluftee Island Park, Pavilion #1 in Cherokee from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Watermelon will be served, so come on out. It will be a fun time, and an opportunity for everyone to meet each other before school starts.
Then on August 13th & 14th, there will be Kindergarten Screening here at the school. Ms. Kristin will be
contacting KI parents/guardians to schedule appointments.
On Thursday, August 21st, our new students are invited to an open house to become acquainted with the school and staff. They will also receive required forms to be completed. Middle School orientation for all MS students will be at 6:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you then.
